In December 2020 the renewed department of head and neck reconstructive surgery In Mariupol City Hospital No. 1 was opened. The department performs the surgery on the maxillofacial area after accidents and other surgical treatment using modern equipment.

PSTU BioArt teachers are involved in assisting in the implementation of new methods of diagnosis and treatment of patients with pathologies, industrial, civilian and battle trauma, performed by the department. After CT scan of such patients, the scientists of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Pryazovskyi State Technical University scan and then print (in the newly created 3D printing laboratory in the framework of Bioart project) an individual prototype of the future implant. Using such a prototype, the surgeon can obtain all the necessary information about the state of the bones and clearly simulate the surgery implementation for each patient. It is also important that such prototype allows doctors to predict the future personal appearance of the face, and the patient can see how he will look after surgery.

This is just one example of the opportunities that the staff of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of PSTU can provide by the application of Bioart project achievements. The wide range of scanning and printing services can be applied in orthopedics, traumatology and other areas of medicine – wherever physicians are involved in the rehabilitation of patients using the methods and means of implantology.

We are open for cooperation!
